E+H FMP52 Procurement and Replacement Guide

E+H FMP52 Procurement and Replacement Guide
Endress+Hauser Levelflex FMP52 is a guided-wave radar instrument with a chemically resistant, gap-free PFA-coated probe for aggressive liquids. When purchasing FMP52-AAACCAOACHK+AAIJZ1 (2050MM), the full order code and 2050 mm probe length must be checked together with probe design, process connection, wetted materials, pressure and temperature limits, approvals, communication and documentation.
Order code: FMP52-AAACCAOACHK+AAIJZ1 (2050MM)
Measurement: continuous level and interface measurement in aggressive liquids
Buying priority: chemical compatibility, exact 2050 mm coated probe, lead-time control and engineered replacement
Where FMP52 fits best
Endress+Hauser positions the FMP52 for aggressive liquids where a chemically resistant PFA-coated probe is required. The device supports continuous level measurement of liquids, pastes and slurries and, in suitable applications, interface measurement. The measuring principle is designed to remain reliable with changing media, temperature changes, gas blankets or vapors.
The manufacturer lists rod and rope probes with ±2 mm accuracy for rod and rope probes up to 15 m; longer rope versions have different accuracy limits. Depending on configuration, measuring distance reaches 4 m with a rod and up to 45 m with a rope, while the listed process range is −50 to +200 °C and vacuum to 40 bar. Flange and hygienic connections such as Tri-Clamp and DIN 11851 are available by configuration.
Procurement decision checklist
- Verify chemical compatibility: document the medium, concentration, cleaning agents and temperature, then confirm PFA/PTFE and every exposed material.
- Confirm the 2050 mm probe: check rod or rope construction, active length, coating, bottom clearance and mounting geometry.
- Define the measurement duty: overall level or interface, dielectric constants, foam, coating, turbulence, vessel internals and accuracy target.
- Confirm the process connection: flange or hygienic connection, size, rating, gasket, nozzle and cleaning requirements.
- Freeze approvals and integration: hazardous area, WHG/SIL, hygienic or FDA documentation, power, protocol and calibration records.
- Approve the full code: release FMP52-AAACCAOACHK+AAIJZ1 (2050MM) only after every coded option and probe length match the project datasheet.
Lead-time management
Probe type and exact length, PFA construction, process connection, housing, protocol, approvals, certificates and project documentation can affect production and inspection schedules. Request availability against the full order code, freeze material and connection choices early, and include document review, logistics, customs and commissioning buffers.
For shutdown-critical projects, preapprove technically valid alternatives and site-preparation work. Do not substitute probe material, coating, gasket, process connection or approval merely to shorten delivery without written process and engineering acceptance. Confirm packaging and handling requirements that protect the coated probe.
Replacing an old or discontinued level instrument
Begin with the installed nameplate, complete order code and serial number. Record probe type, coating and exact length, process connection, cleaning method, media, concentration, temperature and pressure, approvals, wiring, protocol, parameters and DCS scaling before selecting a successor.
- Confirm lifecycle status and obtain the original configuration, probe drawing, material certificates and parameter backup.
- Compare chemical, probe, mechanical, process, electrical, communication and approval requirements item by item.
- Identify flange adapters, hygienic seals, probe clearance, cable entries and handling needs before shutdown.
- Plan cleaning, parameter migration, empty/full calibration, interface checks, loop tests, alarms and rollback.
- Retain the old instrument until the replacement passes functional, leak and process verification.
Important: FMP51, FMP52 and other Levelflex variants are not automatically interchangeable. Similar names do not guarantee the same coating, chemical resistance, process connection, approvals or communication. Validate the exact replacement for the process.
