E+H CM444 Procurement, Lead Time and Replacement Guide

CM444 Procurement: Design the Signal Plan Before Ordering the Hardware
When several liquid-analysis measurements share one installation, buying a transmitter is also an integration decision. Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 can support a multi-parameter project, but the right configuration depends on the sensors, required signals and control functions. Specify those requirements before comparing quotations.
Series: Liquiline CM444
Core checks: required sensor channels, compatible sensors, installed outputs, communication and accessories.
Quote the complete order code and module scope, not only the series name.
What the CM444 Family Offers
The manufacturer presents CM444 as a four-channel field transmitter, with configurations providing one to four Memosens digital inputs. Compatible sensor choices cover pH/ORP, conductivity, oxygen and other liquid-analysis parameters. The published field enclosure rating is IP66/IP67, subject to correct installation and sealing.
Modular I/O and communication choices help adapt the installation, but they must be checked against the actual supplied hardware and software. Four measurement channels do not automatically mean four dedicated current outputs are included. Any expansion proposal requires confirmation of supported modules, available capacity and configuration requirements; do not assume an advertised family maximum is installed in the quoted unit.
Turn the Process Requirement into an Order Specification
- List each channel: measuring location, parameter, sensor model, cable, assembly and process conditions. Verify sensor and firmware compatibility.
- Map each required signal: identify the primary value, temperature and diagnostic information needed by the control system, then specify current-output allocation or the exact digital interface.
- Define control duties: document alarms, relay functions, cleaning sequences and any controller requirements. Confirm which options and modules are included.
- Check the installation: supply voltage, mounting, cable entries, ambient conditions and service access must fit the site.
- Separate the scope: transmitter, sensors, cables, assemblies, accessories, documents and commissioning support should have clear line items.
For a spare, compare the nameplate and module inventory with the installed unit. A CM444 with different outputs or communication may require engineering work even if its housing and sensor-channel count look familiar.
Manage Lead Time Around the Last Critical Item
Technical release: freeze the full code, module list, quantity and documentation requirements. Ask for a written deviation list when another configuration is offered. Approve differences before treating offers as equivalent.
Supply commitment: distinguish reserved stock from factory production or stock subject to prior sale. Request the exact supplied configuration and a written dispatch date with any pending conditions. Availability, prices and lead times require current confirmation; no fixed stock claim is made here.
Site readiness: align all sensors, cables and assemblies with the transmitter schedule. Allow time for transport, receiving checks, mounting, wiring, control-system integration and commissioning. If a module or sensor changes, reassess both compatibility and delivery rather than retaining the original date without review.
Replacing Older or Discontinued Equipment
Confirm lifecycle and support status with the manufacturer before deciding on like-for-like supply, repair or an upgrade. An old installation is not automatically discontinued. Gather the full installed code, serial number, wiring, sensor list, module inventory and configuration records.
- Preserve the measuring duty: compare parameter, sensor technology and application requirements. An analog sensor cannot be assumed to connect directly to a Memosens input.
- Compare power and interfaces: moving from a two-wire CM42, panel CM14 or differently configured CM44x unit may involve mounting, wiring and signal changes.
- Validate configuration migration: a setup backup is useful evidence, not proof that every parameter can be copied unchanged across hardware or firmware versions.
- Agree acceptance checks: follow the relevant calibration instructions and verify each channel, output assignment, diagnostic response and required control/alarm function before returning the measuring point to service.
Include sensors, accessories, module changes, engineering and commissioning. Matching the series name alone does not establish interchangeability.
Request a Configuration-Based CM444 Quote
Send CM444, quantity, destination and target site date, together with the full order code or nameplate, sensor/channel list, supply voltage, output/protocol requirements and installation details. For replacement work, include the installed module and wiring information so technical fit and delivery can be reviewed together.
